How to Set the Perfect Dinner Table This Spring
Posted by Tori Radday on Mar 7th 2017
Hello! As the weather slowly warms up, it's time to start preparing for the flurry of dinner parties and celebrations that go hand in hand with the spring season. Set your perfect dinner table now and forget about worrying about last minute details later this spring. We have your all dining decor needs covered; keep reading for 9 tips on how to set the perfect dinner table this season.
1. Mix and match your table linens for a truly unique appeal. Your linens don't necessarily have to be matchy-matchy to make a stylish statement. You can create a truly unique, eye-catching dinner table by mixing different prints, colors and textures.
What do we suggest? We love these linens together:
"Oceanside Print Teal Blue Starfish Shells Coral Table Runner 72 Inch"
"Blue Seahorse Embroidered White Waffle Weave Cloth 18 Inch Napkins Set of 4"
"Ocean Beach Coastal Sand Dollar Cloth Dining Placemats Set of 4"
2. Choose table linens in colors that complement each other. Mix and match to your heart's content but choose colors that complement each other. A good rule of thumb is to select one main color and pick pieces that contain that color, even if just in small amounts.
Our
"Green Lattice Plaid 48 Inch Kitchen Dining Table Runner" and "Paradise Palm Fronds and Pink Hibiscus Braided Placemats Set of 4" look great together.
3. Don't forget about small details. Small details make all the difference so pay attention to things you may ordinarily not think twice about such as your salt and pepper shakers. You definitely already have a set on your dinner table but do you truly love it? Does it truly go with the aesthetic that you're trying to achieve? It's not a bad idea to swap out your salt and pepper shakers from time to time to reflect the change in your dining room table decor or the season.
We have hundreds (literally, hundreds) of salt and pepper shakers to choose from so that you can find the perfect one for your dinner table. We really love our "White Fleur de lis Salt and Pepper Shakers in Tray Set" in particular; it would look wonderful on any dinner table.
4. Choose plates and dishes that you truly love and that also compliment your table linens. The mix and match suggestion applies in this tip as well. Who said all of your plates and dishes need to match? Variety creates visual interest.
We love our "Elegant Coastal Nautical White Conch Shell 9 inch Serving Plate," "Starfish Shaped Serving Plate 10.5 Inch Royal Blue Ceramic" and "Coastal Ocean Blue Seahorse Fused Glass 8 Inch Round Serving Plates Set of 4" together.
5. Cloth napkins make a big difference. To exemplify this, just think about the restaurants that you've been to. What are the restaurants that have paper napkins like? Now what about the ones with cloth napkins? Cloth napkins can immediately elevate the style and elegance of any table.
Our "Indigo Sound Cloth Napkins 20 Inch Set of 4 Reversible Coral Print Blue and Tan" are some of our favorite cloth napkins that we sell. You can browse more cloth napkin options here as well.
6. Napkin rings also make a world of difference. Slip a chic set of napkin rings onto your dinner napkins for an instant touch of style.
Our "Elegant Fleur de Lis Napkin Rings" complement most dinner table themes.
7. Layer your table linens. Create visual interest with varied textures.
Our "Eyelet Loom Natural Abaca Fibers Kitchen or Dining Room Placemats" + "Barefoot Landing White and Tan Quilted Reversible Table Runner" = the perfect combination.
8. Create a center display that reflects the style of the place settings. This is an easy way to take your dinner table from "eh" to "Pinterest-perfect." A beautiful center display can effortlessly elevate your table almost instantly. And there are so many different options for creating a centerpiece display that reflects the style that you're after. Flowers make a wonderful centerpiece as do figurines. We love Pinterest for finding new centerpiece display ideas because there are so many different options out there. I'll use my mom's Christmas dinner table display as an example; she takes a large golden wire basket and fills it with round vintage Christmas ornaments for a stunningly unique centerpiece.
We love our "Ocean Blue Octopus Ceramic Tabletop Figurine" for creating a coastal centerpiece display around.
9. Use a napkin holder to display your napkins. Cloth napkins definitely look nicer than paper napkins but if you prefer paper napkins, they can still look good if displayed nicely. Napkins tend to look messy when they're just sitting on a dinner table but a napkin holder immediately eliminates that mess.
